Sustainability Clubs and Events Calendar

In Uncategorized on October 7, 2012 at 1:38 pm

This semester, Sustainability Hub is making an effort to reconnect with other environmentally-minded groups on campus. One of the first results of this effort was a meeting which brought together leaders from over a dozen groups on campus. To make collaboration on campus projects easier, Sustainability Hub hopes to host an intergroup meeting like this on a monthly basis.

An outcome of this first meeting is a collective calendar which will be a place for all the groups to write down when their events are. This will make it easier for club members and other students to know what’s happening on campus. Check it out below:

Spring Fest a Success!

In Uncategorized on March 13, 2012 at 3:10 pm

On Friday, April 20th, as a part of Cornell’s celebration of Sustainability Month, members of the Cornell and Ithaca community joined together to take part in the school’s first annual Spring Fest. Taking place on Ho Plaza, the event offered food, activities, and entertainment while also promoting environmental and social health.

This year, attractions were provided by participating student organizations included: a capella music, “How Slow Can You Go?” bike races, massages, plant-potting, and much more. Delicious local food was available for purchase, and festival goers brought t-shirts for tie-dying. Best of all, admission was free for all attendees. The weather was great and we had a wonderful turnout!

Thanks to everyone who atteneded, and hope you had a great time! Can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Coming Soon: Green Living Online Module

In Uncategorized on March 5, 2012 at 6:55 am

This semester, Hub has joined hands with Cornell University Sustainable Design (CUSD), SA Environmental Committee, Slope Media and several other environmental organizations at Cornell to develop a “Green Living Online Module” to educate students and especially freshmen towards a greener college life . It will be a fun and interactive way for them learn about simple little ways they can lower their impact on the environment. We hope to have a prototype of the module ready in time for Sustainability Month! Our final goal is to have the Cornell adopt it as a part of Freshman Orientation Week for the Freshmen.

In the meantime, drop by one of our meetings (Monday nights at 5:30pm in Uris G88), to find out how to get involved or email ma478@cornell.edu!
